GST Bevel Clusters are manufactured using precise cutting jigs so that every cluster has the best fit and they are all consistent. The pieces are individually wrapped and nested into a cut out in the styrofoam. The clusters are then inspected to make sure that every piece is in its appropriate slot and none are missing.
The clusters are designed to be used with lead came as well as copper foil however this does create a slight variation. We advise a dry fit on the pattern provided so that the builder knows the exact location of each piece. It may be neccessary to grind a small amount to acheive the fit you desire
Once you have a good fit then go ahead and copper foil each piece. One suggestion is to copper foil the cluster even if you plan on lead came for the rest of the window for a finer fit. Place the foiled pieces on the pattern.
Tack solder the cluster together making sure to stay away from the outer edges. On this particular bee cluster we suggest you also include the eye pieces that you need to cut out of your choice of glass and include in the assembly at this stage.
With the bevel cluster tack soldered, keep it on the pattern and you may notice a slight variation in size to that of the pattern line. Trace around the bevel cluster.
If the outer lines of the traced cluster and the pattern do not exactly match up now is when you adjust the adjacent pattern pieces to have a perfect fit.
